“Do I need a videographer?” is a question a lot of couples ask themselves when planning their wedding. A lot of couples can’t decide whether hiring a wedding videographer to their vendor list is the right choice for them for various reasons whether its budget constraints, they don’t know what it entails or if it’s really important, or they simply might feel like photos are just enough as a keepsake from their wedding day. I get it, but if you’re still on the fence- read this!
Do you remember the last time you saw a home video of you and/or your family? These days we have stories- Facebook, snapchat, Instagram… even Twitter now! In the age of short clips we upload to show our friends what we eat for dinner or what we are out doing for the day, a lot of us forgot about home videos or taking meaningful videos at special events because chances are those videos disappear in 24 hours or they sit in your phone and you don’t know what to do with them.
We all love photos- they’re so important for preserving memories. Those home videos from when you were a kid give you a different feeling than photos do though, right? For me they do. I love hearing what my dad sounded like back in 1995 while teaching me how to ride a bike. I love being able to put myself back in those memories. To me, the same thing goes for wedding videos. Imagine being able to listen to those special words your best friend says about you in her maid of honor speech or watching your first dance and not just seeing freeze frames of it. Imagine seeing your parents hug you and wipe their tears away as they give you away at the end of the aisle and being able to hear your vows back.
I know I may be biased, but your wedding video is so worth it and I’ve never heard a bride regret hiring a videographer but they’ve definitely regretted not hiring one. Don’t listen to me though. Take it from these brides in the “I’m Engaged! Now what?” group.
“My video is my most cherished momentum from my wedding day. Pictures are great and all, but NOTHING catches the true essence of the day like a video does.
10/10 recommend! It’s so worth it! I catch my ten year old watching it on YouTube frequently.” – Amanda H.
“So worth it to me! We were on the fence and I’m so glad we got one. Years from now when people starting passing away, I know I will love looking back and having these precious live recorded moments to watch. We watch our highlight videos just as much as we look at our photos.” Amy F.
“It was important for me so I booked a photo/video package. Our family and friends literally live all over the world (we had guests from 11 states and international), and this was the one day they all got together to celebrate us. Both our best man and maid of honor live overseas now but we have their speeches on video. And my grandma has died since my wedding day but now I have video of her big smile and hug and it truly means the world to me. I would strongly urge you to consider video even if you do something cheap. You’ll never get all of those people in one room again and it’s so worth it to see all of your loved ones together.” -Chrissie B.
“My mom had a videographer at her wedding 27 years ago and we watch it EVERY year on her anniversary. I wasn’t at her wedding because I wasn’t born yet and I genuinely treasure getting to watch her special day. It’s just as emotional and lovely every year when we watch it, and as a matter of fact, I think it becomes more special as the years pass because we get to see video of loved ones that have passed away. My mom LOVES to watch her father daughter dance because her father isn’t around anymore. Its truly something special that cant be captured in pictures and I say if you can afford a videographer, even if it makes things a little tight with money, it is 100000% worth it. This is essentially the most important and special day of your life and even if you don’t watch it often, when you do want to watch it years down the road, you’ll be happy you have it” – Virginia P.
It was sooo worth it!! Almost didn’t get one but so glad I did!!! The video captures so much that the photos don’t. I have been married for almost a year & a half now & I still watch my video all the time. -Becky D.
